OAR’s professional counselors provide comprehensive outpatient services to a broad range of people affected either directly or indirectly by substance dependency. Our experts will conduct an extensive assessment to determine the appropriate type of treatment for each individual. Outpatient therapy includes individual and group therapy sessions, and at times, a combination of both.
Group therapy is well documented as a highly effective form of treatment for addiction. OAR offers a wide variety of group therapy programs to assist adults aged 18 and older through the process of recovery. The initial assessment assures placement in the most appropriate group.
OAR provides one-on-one therapy with a master’s level therapist for adults, as well as teens aged 16 and older, at both our Holland and Grand Haven locations.
Intensive Outpatient Therapy
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a group treatment approach designed for more severely addicted individuals. Treatment is several hours per day, 3 days per week and may last 6-8 weeks, depending on the person’s needs. This program helps clients to create alcohol- and drug-free lifestyles, improve coping skills, and develop a positive network of support.
Family treatment is a valued component of a substance abuse treatment program. In addition to providing a better understanding of the recovery process, OAR’s family counseling services offer support and strategies to help family members throughout the treatment and sustained recovery of their loved one. OAR also provides a Community Family Program for families with an addicted loved one who may or may not be in treatment.
OAR provides a variety of specialty services, such as: Alcohol Highway Safety Classes, Driver’s License Assessments (Secretary of State), Attorney and Employer Requested Assessments, Family Interventions, Community Educational Presentations, and Victim-Survivor Impact Panels.
These programs are a proven and powerful tool in the treatment, recovery and maintenance of substance addiction, and many offer companion programs for family members that are equally strong as a source of support and understanding.
